As we welcome Pastor David back to the pulpit with an exciting new series, I would like to make some recommendations for your reading to reinforce his messages.

In the main library:

Abundance of the Heart: Rejoicing in the Fruit of the Spirit [234.13/Bar] by Bob Barnes.        

Secrets to Exceptional Living: Transforming Your Life through the Fruit of the Spirit [248.8/Mey] by Joyce Meyer.

In the children’s library:

Jesus in Me [C227.4/Mac] by Dandi Daley Mackall.

Mystery Mutt [JF/Lew] by Beverly Lewis, Beverly. After Jason discovers a homeless dog on his doorstep, he changes his mind about the cul-de-sac kid’s decision to practice a fruit of the Spirit.

Three Cousins Detective Club Series [JF/Mur] by Elspeth Campbell Murphy:

The Mystery of the Dancing Angels. The three cousins lose their bratty third-cousin Patience in an old mansion and must investigate.

The Mystery of the Dolphin Detective. The cousins vacation together and set out to discover why the dolphins they are visiting don’t seem to want to eat.

The Mystery of the Eagle Feather. Meeting Timothy’s Native American pen pal at powwow, the three cousins soon discover a thief in their midst.

The Mystery of the Haunted Lighthouse. The cousins set out to find a vandal who sabotaged restoration work at a rundown lighthouse.

The Mystery of the Hobo’s Message. Strange carvings on an old tree lead the three cousins to learn about hobo code and the importance of kindness.

The Mystery of the Magi’s Treasure. While celebrating “Christmas in July” the three cousins find some stolen art and discover that even bad boys can be good.

The Mystery of the Silent Nightingale. Sarah-Jane and her two cousins solve the mystery of an antique locket.

The Mystery of the White Elephant. Timothy and his cousins must find a white elephant-stealing culprit at the church swap meet.

The Mystery of the Wrong Dog. Titus and his cousins are confused by the sudden personality change in their neighbors’ crabby Yorkshire terrier.

Also, please look for any library materials you have checked out over the summer and have not returned. We have over 20 items [books, DVDs, CDs, and magazines] overdue.

 Using the Church Library Minimize

Library icon.jpgOur expanded church library is open when the church is open and anyone can check out materials. Here's how:

Select materials you wish to borrow. Remove the circulation card and write in your name (and phone number if not a church member). Then place card in the check out box at the desk.

Enjoy your materials: Books 3 weeks; All others 1 week.

When returning materials, place them in the top drawer of the file cabinet at the desk marked "Returned materials."

 Tips for Selecting Children's Books Minimize

Parents, here are some tips for helping your child select books appropriate to his/her reading level:

Have your child read the first page or two of the book. Ask  them to hold up 1 finger for every word they don't know.

If they hold up 5 fingers while reading, consider this a "read it to me" book, rather than a book to read on their own. If they hold up only 2-3 fingers, you've found a "just right" book.
